The challenge
A retail business selling through multiple independent vendors needed a single storefront that could bring separate product catalogs, pricing, and inventory together without forcing every vendor onto the same back-office workflow. Their existing setup relied on a patchwork of spreadsheets and a stock e-commerce theme that couldn't handle multi-vendor commissions, per-vendor shipping rules, or the search and filtering shoppers expect from a modern online store.
Beyond the storefront itself, the business needed vendors to be able to manage their own products, track their own orders, and see their own payouts — without any vendor seeing another vendor's data. The catalog also needed to scale as new vendors and product categories were added, without every addition requiring a manual code change.
Our approach
We built a multi-vendor marketplace platform with a clear separation between the shopper-facing storefront and a dedicated vendor dashboard. Each vendor gets their own scoped view for managing products, inventory, and orders, backed by role-based access control so a vendor can only ever see their own data. Commission rules, payout calculations, and per-vendor shipping configuration are handled centrally, so the business can onboard a new vendor without any custom development.
The storefront itself is built for search and discovery — structured product data, fast filtering and faceted search, and a checkout flow that stays simple regardless of how many vendors are represented in a single cart. The whole system is deployed on cloud infrastructure designed to scale the catalog and order volume independently of the vendor dashboard, so traffic spikes on the storefront don't affect vendor operations.
Outcome
The result is a single platform that lets the business onboard new vendors through a self-service dashboard instead of manual back-office work, while giving shoppers one consistent, fast storefront regardless of how many vendors are behind it. Vendor payouts and commissions are calculated automatically, removing a previously manual reconciliation step.
